NOTHING CAN TAKE THE PLACE OF PERSISTENCE!
Persistence is simply not giving up. It is closely linked to endurance and perseverance.  It has, like everything else, the good and the bad sides - you can persist for the greater good or in sinfulness. Persistence is Mark 13:13 - "Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved." (NIV) Persistence is Luke 18:1 - "Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up." (NIV) Persistence is having a goal in mind and pursuing it steadfastly, vigorously, in spite of all odds. It is an armour in the Christian race - "Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, ....." (Eph.6.14.NIV)

Persistency is why you go to work daily despite the unconducive working conditions. Why you give your all in that small business idea of yours. It is the same reason why parents do not give up on their children because there is hope in perseverance. It is the reason many people remain in toxic marriage because there is the hope that things will get better. Hope that there is light after darkness.

Persistence/perseverance is the muscle of faith. "...........we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." (Rom.5.3-4.NIV) It is the evidence of faith with works. "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone." (Jas.2.24.NIV)

Those who cannot endure end up as failures. "They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us." (1John.2.19.NIV) They fall by the wayside. Their foundation is on the sand not on the rock.

Paul encouraged us: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Gal.6.9.NIV) That is persistence. Proverbs added; "Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways." (Pro.4.25-26.NIV)

THE WORD: And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." (Eph.6.18.NIV)
