PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
August 6th, 2025
ONLY THE LIVING CAN PRAISE YOU LORD.
Why can't the dead praise the Lord?
Because it is appointed for men to die once and after this, judgement (Heb. 9:27). Therefore, the dead can no longer express themselves or participate in worship. The silence that envelope the dead is permanent until resurrection not in this world but in the next. There is a separation which seems permanent between the living and the dead with only the legacy of memory left for the living.
"The dead cannot sing praises to the Lord, for they have gone into the silence of the grave. [18] But we can praise the Lord both now and forever! Praise the Lord!" (Psa.115.17-18.NLT)
"For the dead cannot praise you; they cannot raise their voices in praise. Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness. Only the living can praise you as I do today.................." (Isa 38.18-19.NLT)
Is this why people do not talk ill of the dead?
1. Talking I'll of the dead is disrespectful especially to the family left behind. It like adding salt into injury.
2. The dead can no longer defend themselves. Laying emphasis on their misdeeds seem cruel and who are we to judge? "I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books." (Rev.20.12.NLT).
3. What if the dead had repented of the deed he is accused off? It means the accuser of the dead needs to check himself if he is holding a grudge? If so, it is the living who has to seek forgiveness from God before it is too late.
4. Speaking ill of the dead will not bring them back it only causes continuous pain and division among the living. Where is God’s instruction to forgive and forget? Even Satan does not accuse the dead! Why should you? Leave the past where it belongs and seek to heal from the past.
One day we shall all be silenced too. Work on your salvation with fear and trembling whilst you are still living because this is your only chance of eternity with Christ Jesus. Repair the altar of your heart for the revival of your soul.
THE WORD: "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. [32] Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." (Eph.4.31-32.NLT)
