AND SHALL THIRST NO MORE! (John 4:14)
In the conversation between Jesus and the woman of Samaria at the well of Jacob, it was implied that no matter how many times people drink water from the well, they shall still thirst for water. And this is very true even for us. There is no amount of water we drink that we will not thirst again and again. So, when Jesus told her He has water that if she drinks, she will thirst no more, her enthusiasm picked. The irony was, and unknown to her, she had been longing for the water Jesus offered all her life. In her own case, she thought marriage and staying married will bring her satisfaction and the joy she so much craved. Five previous marriages and even the sixth one was no better.

THERE IS THE WOMAN AT THE WELL IN ALL OF US - all human beings. It is the hollow feelings in our heart that we try to fill. In an attempt to fill it for the maximisation of true happiness, some look for it in alcohol, prostitution, adultery, fornication, polygamy, clothes, work, earthly riches, reconstruction of the body, gossip, selfish ambition and more (Gal 5:19-21). WE TRY TO USE PHYSICAL RESOURCES TO SATISFY SPIRITUAL NEED. This is why money cannot buy happiness. We are spiritual beings as much as we are men and women in the flesh. Hence, it is written: "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” (Mark.12.17.NIV). Then, "Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food." (Isa.55.1-2.NLT)(invitation to salvation)

We thirst no more after the salvation of our souls which comes after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and the repentance from sin unto salvation. "Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. (John.7.37-39.NLT)

JESUS IS OUR ONLY HOPE.

THE WORD: "O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water........ You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy." (Psa.63.1-5.NLT)
