PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

OUR WEAPON OF WARFARE IS NOT CARNAL. (2 Cor.10:4-5)
When we read of weapons and war, the immediate picture in our mind is instruments of war for physical combat. Anything that can damage or destroy the enemy. But 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 is about spiritual warfare which is more of the battle of the mind, that is bringing all our thoughts into alignment with the will of Christ. So,
What are the carnal weapons?
Human ingenuity, talents, wealth, organisation ability, eloquence, propaganda, charisma and personality. These are inadequate to pull down the strongholds of Satan. We cannot fight sin with sin. We have to fight sin with what pleases God.
What are the mighty weapons for spiritual warfare?
These weapons are listed in Ephesians 6:11-19. They are commitment to TRUTH, A life of RIGHTEOUSNESS, proclamation of the GOSPEL, FAITH, LOVE, HOPE of Salvation, the Word of God and persevering prayer. Living above sin.
When can these spiritual weapons be used effectively?
"And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete." (2 Cor.10.6.NIV). We must be above board to be able to operate effectively and to challenge every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Humanistic wisdom, philosophy, psychology, exciting attractions, these are performances focused on entertainment. They are distractions - Satan's style. Using the world's weapons will only secularize the church and separate us from the weapons of faith, righteousness and the power of the Holy Spirit. Tragically, the church itself will go to sleep, overshadowed by the power of darkness, cast down and taken captive by the forces of the world.
The Bible warns us to pray without ceasing, to be very vigilant, to be careful to obey the commandments. We need to be strong and remain strong in the Lord as the Christian life is a serious business requiring that we constantly focus on Christ Jesus.
THE WORD: "So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. [7] For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. [8] But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
