PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

"I HID MY FACE FROM THEM." (Ezek. 39:23)
“For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer." (Isa.54.7-8.NIV)
Have you ever felt abandoned by God? Have you prayed to God so hard with tears streaming down your face but only felt His silence/absence? The emptiness is worse than mourning a loved one. Here is why. "And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. SO I HID MY FACE FROM THEM and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their offenses, AND I HID MY FACE FROM THEM." (Ezek.39.23-24.NIV)
The truth is God never hides His face from those who are not called by His name. He never hides from those who do not know Him and who do not have a relationship with Him. He hide His face only from people who have tasted His goodness, loving kindness, His faithfulness and then fall back into sin. It is betrayal! To fall back into sin after experiencing God's unwavering attention is worse than a dagger to the soul. And because His Holiness cannot tolerate or bless sin, creating a barrier between Him and the people.
David in despair wrote: "How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
(Psa.13.1-2.NIV). Momentarily on the cross when the sin of the whole world was on His shoulders, Jesus too experienced this seemingly abandonment when He cried;
"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?" (Psa.22.1.NIV)
The good news is, God hiding His face is JUST FOR A MOMENT. The door of our relationship with Him was never shut permanently. We only need to find our way home again. And while we are still afar off, the Father meets us midway. We serve a God of second chance. His silence is very temporary. Repent and stay away from sin.
THE WORD: "For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."
(Psa.30.5.NIV)
