THEREFORE, BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

Sept. 4th, 2025

THEREFORE, BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND.
The mind is like a garden and you are the gardener. Whatever you plant in the garden of the mind is what grows there. The way you maintain this garden of the mind on the inside, is the way others will see it on the outside.

Have you every seen a meticulously maintained garden? The lawn is kept perfect, the edges well trimmed, the flowers properly arranged, watered, manure, designed beautifully. Every passer-by turns to admire its beauty and probably acknowledge the efforts of the owner. The opposite is a garden that is neglected. Mostly, only weeds grow in this garden with an uneven heights. And whatever beauty it holds, is quickly submerged within the weeds and passers-by draw the conclusion of a lazy, careless, dirty gardener. This is the picture perfect of how we treat our minds. You can grow the word of God or you can grow the noise of the the world. But to grow the WORD requires lots of work, determination, endurance, consistency, and constant meditation - checking. "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Rom.12.2.NIV).

How does the garden of your mind look? Does it show admiration or disgust?

We can transform a badly maintained garden into a beauty filled with the aroma of the love of Christ. We must despise and hate what is evil, love what is righteous and refuse to yield to various types of worldliness such as greed, selfishness, humanistic thinking, political maneuvering of power, envy, hate, revenge, impurity, filthy language, ungodly entertainment, sensuality, immodesty, immorality, drugs, alcohol and worldly companions.

We must have our minds conformed to God's way of thinking by reading and meditating on His Word. We must have our plans, goals, and ambitions determined by heavenly and eternal truths, not by this evil, temporal, and transient age.

We must present our bodies to God as dead to sin and as the temple of the Holy Spirit.

THE WORD: "What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (2 Cor.6.16.NIV)
