PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

WE MUST PRODUCE SPIRITUAL FRUIT, OTHERWISE....!
Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’ “ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. IF IT BEARS FRUIT NEXT YEAR, FINE! IF NOT, THEN CUT IT DOWN." (Luk.13.6-9.NIV)
●The owner of the vineyard is God
●The gardener, the man who took care of the fig tree is Jesus Christ.
●The fig tree represents individuals or nation.
●God's expectation is that we must produce fruit.
Because He provided everything that will make the fig tree produce fruit and no one can deny that - the fertile ground, sunshine, rain/water, wind/air, gardener to tend it. In the same way, God showed mercy through Grace, sacrificed Himself for our sin, sent us His Word, His prophets and through Jesus Christ, showed us how to live a fruitful life through repentance and obedience. And for three years, God visited His vineyard expecting fruit. Can we wait that long before taking action?
Jesus, our advocate, steps in, asking for a little more time, a second chance, a Helper to nurture us to produce fruit. The fig tree is expected to produce fruit because it has everything that is needed for it to do so. "You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock." (Deut.7.14.NKJV)
Another lesson from the parable of the barren fig tree is, there is a time limit for everyone of us. God's patience has limit. The heavenly and earthly efforts invested in each of us should produce fruit, otherwise, judgement! Delay is dangerous. Accept Jesus today, repent, seek Him when He can be found and eternal life is assured.
This parable reminds us to examine our lives and ask ourselves, Am I producing spiritual fruit? (Gal. 5:22). We need people whose lives will be beneficial to others, intercessors like the gardener.
THE WORD: “What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes?" (Isa.5.4.NLT))
