FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
There is a progression, stages of how we receive the Holy Spirit.
1. Indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This is when God takes permanent residence in the body of a believer in Christ Jesus. "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." (1 Cor.6.19-20.NIV). Jesus said: "...the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. BUT YOU KNOW HIM, FOR HE LIVES WITH YOU AND WILL BE IN YOU." (John.14.17.NIV). You have to have given your life to Jesus Christ to obtain this privilege.
2. Being filled with the Holy Spirit. This depends on how you want to walk with God. Jesus said: "He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you." (John.16.14.NIV). That means the WORD. Keep the Word and let it not depart from you (Josh. 1:8). "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, ...." (Eph.5.18-19.NIV) That is to be constantly in the presence of God wherever you are and in whatever you do. Being filled with the Holy Spirit requires constant re-filling also. Digging deeper into the Word which builds faith, seeking the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit. You can not run the car on an empty tank.
3. Being full of the Holy Spirit. "........They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; ..." (Act.6.5b.NIV). This suggests inside-out. The Holy Spirit inside and His fire also burning on the outside of the individual. This was evident in the most powerful sermon Stephen delivered in Acts 7. It is doable depending on how much of ourselves we want to release or yield for the service of God. It is living above the world, fuel by living in total obedience to the Word of God.
Keep asking for more of the Holy Spirit - He is the lifeline.
