PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

GOD IS WITH US.
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). (Mat.1.23.NIV). Mary conceived the moment the angel told her 'the Holy Spirit will come upon you' because she consented. God with us suggests that there are various positions God takes with His people to establish His presence or the lack of it. The scriptures confirm this when we read: God is for us; God is before us; God is with us; God is in our midst; God is over us; God is under us and on certain occasions, God is behind us.
As we analysis the positions of God and the characteristics of each position, God behind us is the most dangerous position of all. When He is behind us means we have ABANDONED Him. Recall the story of when Jesus - savior was left behind in the temple at Jerusalem. His parents thought He was in the wagon with the others. They had travelled a whole day before they realized He was NOT WITH THEM. They had to go back and it took three days to find Him at the exact place they left Him. When we stray away from Him, (when we stop praying, or reading His word, or seeking other gods) we circle right back to where we left Him.
God is under us, this position suggests He is our support. "The Lord upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down." (Psa.145.14.NKJV)
God over us - that position suggests His watchfulness. "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (Pet.3.12.NKJV)
God in our midst - suggests nearness. The instant accessibility of God in the midst of His people. "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Mat.18.20.NKJV)(Psa.46:1-5)
God before us - suggests His battle position. He engages our enemies. This He does especially when we suffer wrong instead of doing wrong. God becomes an adversary to our adversaries. "The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes," (Deu.1.30.NIV)
God is for us - this suggests the scale is already tilted in our favor and victory is certain. "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Rom.8.31.NIV)
THE WORD: "if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, [3] they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us;" (Psa.124.2-3.NIV)
