"THOU ARE WITH ME."
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." (Psa.23.4.NIV)
Believers walk timidly in the midst of foes usually because we often forget the God whom we serve, or because we have some hidden guilt that the enemy can use against us. The Psalmist says: "Even though I walk through THE DARKEST VALLEY, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL. Why will he say that with all the confidence of this world? Because he knows the God he serves. He knows the power and the pillars that keeps him standing. He knows he is standing upon the Rock of Ages. God didn't tell us to be timid but to be humble. There is a difference - timidity and humility may look alike but they are not the same.
David's confidence was born out of the fact that he was certain; "I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly. I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you".(Psa.119.167-168.NIV). This is where we need to assess ourselves regularly to see if there is any sin lurking in our system and to confess and repent from same quickly and genuinely . We are to walk free with our heads high not with arrogance but in humility with the confidence of someone who knows and is assured that 'All heaven resources and power' are available to him.
Jesus told us; 'if you love me, you will keep my commandments......and I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper that He may abide with you forever.' And for this reason, we know "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." (2Tim.1.7.NIV)
The protective gear available to believers is like Ezekiel's vision of God (Ezek. 1:4-12) - the four moving creatures and you in the center like in a capsule. Therefore, ".....this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “DO NOT FEAR, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I WILL BE WITH YOU; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." (Isa.43.1-2.NIV)
Let us become who we are supposed to be - the likeness of God.
THE WORD: "I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” (Gen.28.15.NIV)
