PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

PARENTS, PLANT GOOD SEEDS.
For whatever a man or woman sows, that he/she will also reap (Gal. 6:7)
Parenting is one of the most difficult jobs (if not the most difficult) in the world; the result/reward of which is not known until it is too late. The years of nursing, nurturing may be rewarded with gratitude or ingratitude. Why? Look at the foundation of the child! The reasons are in the upbringing of the children.
The Bible that commands children to “Honor father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” (Eph.6.2-3.NIV; Exo. 20:12), encourages them to OBEY their parents (Eph. 6:1), says they must not curse their parents (Exo.21:17), encourages respect for the elderly (Lev. 19:32). The same Holy Book commands parents not to provoke their children to wrath (Eph. 6:4; Col. 3:21) but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. The last phrase indicates that there are two ways we can bring up children - God's standard or human's (flesh).
God's way will make the children like "arrows in a warrior's hands (Ps.127:4), like olive plants (Ps. 128:3) and "our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace." (Psa.144.12.NIV).
To provoke the children is to introduce them to anger, resentment, selfishness, irresponsible behavior and more. Children mirror their parents. Children do not forget the treatment parents subjected them to. And if the parents lived long enough, they will reap the fruit of their labour. "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." (Eph.4.29.NIV)
Some parents claim they did a perfect job but the outcome suggested otherwise. "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit."
(Mat.7.18.NIV). If you still have doubt, seek the Holy Spirit to reveal the past.
Whatever treatment/teachings children receive while growing up is what the parents will receive in their old age - it stands to reason. Every action or inaction from parents has a price tag.
If parents however, will confess their inadequacies, God is merciful to make affected children become 'born again.' Children are God’s property.
THE WORD: “All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace." (Isa.54.13.NIV)
