THE FEAR OF GODLY RESPONSIBILITY.
The first reaction of majority of people who are called by God into His ministry and who eventually answered the call, is denial. Like a complete black out, the feeling of inadequacy sweeps in like Noah's flood - almost drowning. There is one undeniable fact about the relationship between man and God; man has always been rebellious against anything and everything about God until he sees/witnesses the power and superiority of God. Therefore, the fear of godly responsibility may be partly rebellious and partly the sense of awe and or inadequacy. This is usually followed by a reluctant acceptance (when left with no choice) and a sense of 'let's do this and get it done with' only to find out that there is no retirement in godly responsibility and you must play by God's rules to succeed.
Another fascinating thing about the 'called' or chosen of God is they seem to have a dark past or inferiority complex or weakness that makes them unworthy to answer the call. Moses was a fugitive who ran away from Egypt to avoid a death sentence for killing an Egyptian. Yet, when God was still in conversation with him, was told he will go and challenge Pharaoh, the king of Egypt! - the same king he ran away from. This was followed by other excuses as if God was unaware of his shortcomings. Peter said to Jesus: “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” (Luk.5.8.NIV) Even Jeremiah who was still 'innocent' said "Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth." (Jer. 1:6). Here is God's response: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jer.1.5.NIV) Right there is the reason that; no one can run away from serving Him. God apportioned the chosen responsibilities before they were born. They were born into His plans, the plans He had before the foundation of the world. And this could be the reason the 'called' wear unseen shield from dangers, trials and persecutions from the enemies till their mission accomplished.
No one is immune to the fear of accepting godly responsibilities and it could be more about a deep reverence for God's holiness, power, and supremacy.
If you are called, stop running and answer. You are covered by His blood.
THE WORSD: "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him." (1Cor.1.27-29.NIV)
