CHOOSING BETWEEN FASTING AND OBEDIENCE.
According to the word of God, here is the reason why we fast:
“For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God. They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.” (Isa. 58:2)

When we do not have answers to our fasting, we ask: “Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’ (Isa. 58:3a)
God tells us: “Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high. Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for people to humble themselves. Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for lying in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord?” {Isa. 58:3b-5)
God’s template of fasting: “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.” (Isa. 58:6-8)
God’s prescribed fasting mirrors obedience to His commandments; truth, love, compassion, giving and loving God above all others. We know that the proof that we love God is in our obedience to Him (John 14:15). The truth is, it is easier for us to fast than to obey the word of God because we are driven by our heart desire most of the time when we fast. The need for God to do our bid is stronger and we believe that when we deny ourselves food and drink, He will hear us and grant our desires. But the key to answered prayers is in obedience to the word of God. Because every instruction from God comes with reward or punishment. And if we do not do His will, we don’t get to complain that He does not answer us when we fast and pray.

The most advantageous fasting, the fasting that gets us result is when we combine obedience to the word with fasting.
THE WORD: "Jesus answered, “I assure you that if you believe and do not doubt, you will be able to do what I have done to this fig tree. And not only this, but you will even be able to say to this hill, ‘Get up and throw yourself in the sea,’ and it will.
