GOD PROVIDES OUR NEEDS; WE USE ONLY WHAT WE NEED. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
Nov. 9th, 2025

GOD PROVIDES OUR NEEDS; WE USE ONLY WHAT WE NEED.
“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” (2 Cor. 9:8)

Did you know that you don’t use up more than you need, irrespective of how prosperous you may be? The promise of God is that He will meet all our needs (Phil. 4:19) And in 2 Corinthians 9:8, He added ‘and plenty more’ – the excesses or the left overs are meant to be shared with others. The left overs if hoarded will rot away. “These are the Lord’s instructions: Each household should gather as much as it needs. Pick up two quarts for each person in your tent.” So, the people of Israel did as they were told. Some gathered a lot, some only a little.  But when they measured it out, EVERYONE HAD JUST ENOUGH. Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough. Each family had just what it NEEDED. Then Moses told them, “Do not keep any of it until morning.”  But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them. (Exo. 16:16-20 NLT)

Abraham did not need more than a son to populate the nation of Israel. And God promised him just that. But he went on to have Ishmael and six more sons with Keturah. God made use of his promised son, Isaac and the others drowned in the system. Just as He didn’t need more than 300 men from Gideon’s 32,000 men to fight the Midianites and the Amalekites, all the people of the East, as numerous as locusts (Judges 7:1-12). The 29,000 excess men were not needed.

The Zarephath widow believing God when she prepared her last meal, did not have her house stored with bags of flour and cartons or kegs of oil. The sizes of her can of flour and jar of oil did not expand but each day, she had enough of both ingredients to bake the bread and cakes needed for the day. The Bible says: “Do not be anxious for nothing.” Just TRUST in Him.

Nobody uses up more than their needs. You cannot stuff yourself with more food after you are full. You cannot wear more than the needed clothes at any time. You cannot drive two cars at the same time. You cannot be in two houses or in two rooms at the same time. You cannot spend more money than you needed to at any time. So, what happens to the excess? Our houses and bank accounts tell the story better.

God’s need and our needs are synchronized for His glory.

THE WORD: “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols." (Isa.42.8.NIV)
