“THE SILVER AND THE GOLD ARE MINE”, SAYS THE LORD
Gold and silver in the Bible symbolize wealth (material wealth) and beauty but gold also often represent purity and divinity.
This verse declares that all wealth ultimately belongs to God and is often quoted to emphasize that God owns all resources. We also know that silver and gold are money because Peter and John declared “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Acts 3:6 NIV). This also goes to prove that silver and gold can be talents or spiritual gifts. Therefore, every man created by God has a start-up of a kind of deposit in him that if used wisely will generate the resources required to maintain himself and possibly many others. This explains why there are different kinds of talents, professionals in all the aspects of human endeavors, as well as spiritual gifts. Each of us have a talent or some talents deposited in us. And this brings us to the Parable of the Talents.
In the Parable of the Talents, each individual is responsible for using their God giving talents to the best of their ability and for His purpose. Why some end up as astronauts, some are nurses or teachers or entrepreneurs but God expects a return on what each of us have been given, and there will be accountability for how we used the talents/gifts. Therefore, the foundation of our wealth is God and as a result, no man should boast.
There are TWO things that God demand from us as beneficiaries of His resources.
●"When you have eaten and are satisfied, PRAISE THE LORD YOUR GOD for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not
forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.” (Deut. 8:10-11 NIV) REMEMBER GOD.
●"At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.” (2 Cor. 8:14-15 NIV) SHARE YOUR ABUNDANCE
THE WORD: "One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Pro.11.24-25.NIV)
