THE HARDEST PART OF SERVING GOD.
The hardest part of serving God is to be ready when He is ready.
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it” (Luke 9:23-24 NIV).
But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him” (Mat. 24:43 NIV). (Rev. 16:15; 1 Thes. 5:2,4; 2 Peter 3:10)
When the Israelites came to the mountain of the Amorites which THE LORD HAS GIVING THEM, they were to take it over but instead, they complained and will not go. God was ready; the people were not.
Then, they decided to go and fight for the land after they realized their folly. They lost the battle. It also cost them forty years to take over the land. They were ready but God was not. (Deut. 1:19-43)
King Saul was to fight the Philistines but grew impatience and performed the sacrifices of the burnt offering and the peace offerings which he was not qualified to perform. He crossed the line because Samuel did not show up on time as promised. Saul lost the kingdom that day. (1 Sam. 13:1-15) Saul was ready but God was not. Delay is not denial.
The parable of the ten virgins added credence to this. The ten virgins did every thing the same way. They were even in the waiting hall together. They were all awaken by the sound of the arrival of the groom but the light of five of them went off. Before they could fix the problem, the door was shut against them (Mat.25:1-13). God was ready, they were not. Two people will be working together; one will be taken and the other left behind (Mat. 24:41)
So, what do we do? How do we get it right so as not to be left behind?
THE WORD: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." (Mat.24.42-44.NIV)
