DEPRESSION (2)
How do you know that you have depression?
■When you allow an issue, an experience to overwhelm you.
■When you wear the problem like you wear a garment.
■When you allow disappointment to eat deep into your soul.
■When you desperately seek solution that does not involve God or that partially involves Him.
Your state of depression could be for a brief period or longer, lasting many years without your knowing that you have depression. It all depend on how long you allow it to eat you up.

What are the signs of depression?
According to the scriptures, - this is NOT a MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS – deep sadness and hopelessness. A feeling of inadequacy, a hollow of emptiness, you expect to be more but you feel you are less. You want to run; you want to hide. Any action that does NOT align with the promises of God for a believer – peace, love, joy, contentment, appreciation, praising God, thanksgiving – these are the inheritance of believers. Once these are not functioning, then, you have allowed anxiety or worry, sadness, over thinking, hatred, jealousy, self destruction, suicidal thoughts, low-self esteem, and all the negatives to control your thinking. Compare these with the advice of Apostle Paul:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:4-7 NIV)

This does not mean that the are no trials, disappointments, a feeling of loneliness and of God’s abandonment. But we know that “…..the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” PLANS TO GIVE YOU A FUTURE not hopelessness. Anything that is contrary to God’s plan for you should be sent back to sender.

You can do all things right with God and still falls into depression. DON’T STAY DOWN; GET UP AND CLAIM YOUR INHERITANCE.

THE WORD: "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. [17] For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want." (Gal.5.16-17.NIV)
