PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
Dec. 20th, 2025
SEEK GOOD, THAT YOU MAY LIVE.
“Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.” (Amos 5:14 NIV)
Every choice we make is a vote for the type of life we want to live. Every decision we face is an opportunity to align ourselves with God’s heart or drift away from His purposes. Every moment presents us with the fundamental choice that determines not just our circumstances but our very destiny - the choice between seeking good and seeking evil.
Right now, you have the power to choose life over death, blessing over curse, light over darkness. God has placed before you the most important decision you will ever make, and it is not a onetime choice, it is a daily, hourly, moment by moment decision that shapes everything about your existence.
The Prophet Amos spoke these words to a generation that had forgotten this fundamental truth. They have become comfortable with compromise, satisfied with spiritual mediocrity, content with choosing the easy path instead of the righteous path. But God in His infinite mercy gave them – and us – a roadmap back to abundant life. This is not a suggestion or a gentle recommendation, It is a divine command coupled with an incredible promise – SEEK GOOD ACTIVELY PURSUE IT, HUNT FOR IT, MAKE IT YOUR MISSION. TURN AWAY FROM EVIL, REJECT IT, REFUSE TO ENTERTAIN IT. That you may live not just exist, but truly live with purpose, meaning, and divine blessing. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you – the creator of the universe, the one who holds all power will align Himself with your life.
Amos was speaking to a society that had lost its moral compass, where right and wrong had become blurred, where convenience had replaced conviction, where comfort had replaced character. It is into this moral confusion that God speaks to His prophet with startling clarity. The SOLUTION ISN’T COMPLEX THEOLOGY OR COMPLICATED RELIGIOUS FORMULAS. It’s beautifully simple: SEEK GOOD; NOT EVIL. Choose righteousness over wickedness. Pursue justice over injustice. Select truth over lies and YOU WILL LIVE.
THE WORD: “So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord alone."
(Jos.24.14.NLT)
