PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Is the real you always seen through the lens of your parents, siblings, spouses, masters, friends? Are you always the brother/sister of someone else? There is someone that sees you; Hagar said: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” (Gen. 16:13 NIV) For years, Hagar was simply the slave of Sarai.
For over 400 years, the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were simply identified as slaves in Egypt. They had no clear identity. Those who knew their true stories were dead and long gone. The generations that were living, only lived through stories passed on from generation to generation. The children of Jacob existed but were not seen. But God saw them and at the appointed time, He sent Moses to Pharaoh saying; “Let My people go.” (Exo. 9:1)
“Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the Lord for help.” The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” (Judg. 6:6, 11-12 NIV) Gideon was no longer hidden or in denial. He got a new identity. A scared Gideon came out of the shadows to lead a whole nation.
David lived for years under the shadows of his siblings until God sent Samuel to anoint him as king as a man after His own heart. Even Jonathan couldn’t stand in his way - rather he, Jonathan relinquished all the royal authority to David without a fight. (1 Sam. 16; 18)
God sees you. You are not alone and definitely got a new identity and your identity is now in Christ Jesus (Col. 3:1-4). You are no longer under anyone’s shadow. You are you.
THE WORD: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20 NIV)
