YOU NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Feb. 23rd, 2026.

Why do you need the Holy Spirit?

Because the Lord says so. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but WAIT FOR THE GIFT MY FATHER PROMISED, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:4-5 NIV)

Which gift?

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS and will REMIND YOU of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26 NIV)

The Confirmation!....

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: (Joel 2:28-29)

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on ALL PEOPLE. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women,  I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy……….And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Acts 2:14-19 NIV).

YOU NEED POWER TO DO HIS WORKS.

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NIV). “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” (John 16:12-15 NIV)

To ignore the Holy Spirit is to be a powerless Christian. And a powerless Christian is no Christian which means no eternal life with Christ. (To be contd)

THE WORD: Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early  and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.” (Psa. 127:1-2 NIV)
