DECLARE WAR AGAINST HOARDING. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Feb. 15th, 2026

“At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.” (2 Cor. 8:14-15 NIV)

Why does God provide us with abundance?

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2 Cor. 8:9 NIV) THE GOAL IS EQUALITY through the redistribution of wealth. Believers in Jesus share equally in His divine inheritance, authority, and glory, not as subordinate partners, but as adopted children of God.

You may think ‘you are poor and have nothing of importance to share.’ Everyone has something in abundance to share if ONLY WE ARE WILLING. It is written: “..your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need.”  The question is what do you have in abundance? Do you have idle time while some others are running in-between schedules? You may be their third hand. Your strength is the need of others. What you have in abundance does not have to be material possession only. Afterall, Jesus did not come to earth sharing money. He shared love and He shared it abundantly. Whatever you hoard, will eventually be destroyed.

The Israelites in the wilderness were to gather manna according to their daily need and on Fridays, they were to gather two days' supply. Here is the irony - when they obeyed, the manna stayed fresh. When they disobeyed, the manna became worms and was thrown away. This emphasizes that we “shall not live by bread alone”. Same manna, different results. This signifies that OBEDIENCE PRESERVES WHAT HOARDING DISTROYS. Don’t hoard material things; moths and rust destroy them (Mat. 6:19-24) or the soul is recalled before it can enjoy your labour (Lk. 12:16-21).

Your trash is some's treasure. Share your abundance; it helps others and God is glorified.

THE WORD: “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.” (Acts 4:31 NIV)
