IF WE ARE WILLING! - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Feb. 12th, 2026.

IF WE ARE WILLING.

“If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isa 1:19-20 NIV)

The cry today is “if we are willing” we can do the unthinkable but we have to be willing. This reminds me of a documentary on a small village in France - Le Chambon - their admirable and defiant courage during the Nazi leash of terror on the Jews between 1941 and 1944 - during the WWII . Europe was a ‘terror dominated continent’ where Jews were persecuted. Jews were killed and whoever showed kindness or shield any of them was also executed even if the protection was offered to a child. It was brutal.

There was a Protestant Pastor in Le Chambon called Andre. He pastored a small church in the village and decided to embrace love in the face of violence, obedience to God instead of obedience to man. This pastor faced war from the Catholic mission and the Nazi government head-on but with wisdom . The village had a population of about 5000 inhabitants and they provided safe haven to 3000 children of Jewish descendants in plain sight. They were raided constantly but they were never caught. Because the village sat on a land 3000ft above sea level, farming was hard. The people were almost starving yet, provided for 3000 additional mouths. Pastor Andre’s conspiracy involved the cooperation of the entire village, teachers, farmers, housewives, traders, children. Everyone worked on sealed lips and everyone carried the required documents on them for the Nazi’s verification. How did they pull it off? You may want to google the “righteous” village of Le Chambon for details.

The point is “if we are willing”, God can use any of us to do extraordinary things to save lives. We have to be willing. We have to trust Him explicitly. We have to invest in the right mission. We have to be bold and courageous not live in fear and or in self-righteous acts. The people of Le Chambon had their own families too but risked all for the love of God and they survived. Their act of bravery hidden for years is now out in the open. The children they saved have grown and scattered all over the globe sharing their stories of second chances.

What is your story of courage in the storm? Do you Trust God as Andre did? It is never late BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE WILLING.

THE WORD: “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (Heb. 10:23 NIV)
