PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

JESUS WAS HUNGRY.
“Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.” (Mat.21:18-19 NIV)
Why did Jesus curse the tree when He could have made it produce fruit immediately? Afterall, He turned five loaves of bread into thousands in one instance! Satan knew He could when he told Him to turn stone into bread. But Jesus refused - why? Because it was not about the physical food.
Jesus instructed His disciples saying: “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you…. But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.” (Luk. 10:8, 10-12 NIV) - a curse. Why?
Because the principle of the Kingdom of God is about choice. It is not for lack of power and or authority but for the WILLING. “If you are willing”, “whosoever believes.” (Isa. 1:19; John 3:16). It is by choice not by force.
The stone-hearted will not be forced to believe in Him.
The fruitless will not be forced to produce fruit.
The unbelieving spirit will not be forced to believe.
I was hungry, you gave Me food - reward. I was hungry, you ignored Me - punishment.
“In the meantime the disciples were begging Jesus, “Teacher, have something to eat! But he answered, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” (John 4:31-32 NIV)
The woman at the well gave her soul for Jesus’ food. Mary Magdalene gave herself. Esther was willing to die to save lives. The widow of Zarephath gave her last meal. Hannah gave her son. Peter abandoned his means of livelihood. Jesus is still hungry. What are you willing to give to feed Him? Decide now before it is too late.
THE WORD: “My food,” Jesus said to them, “is to obey the will of the one who sent me and to finish the work he gave me to do. You have a saying, ‘Four more months and then the harvest.’ But I tell you, take a good look at the fields; the crops are now ripe and ready to be harvested!” (John 4:34-35 NIV)
