PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Old habits die hard. Long-established behaviors, routines, or attitudes are very difficult to change or break, even when one intends to. It highlights that deeply ingrained habits, often formed over years, persist despite efforts to alter them. This explains why it is so difficult to let go of our old ways that are so ingrained in us for a new life in Jesus Christ.
The Israelites spent 430 years in Egypt majorly as slaves that the generations that left Egypt under the leadership of Moses never knew any other life than that of slavery under the slave master, Pharoah. When they walked out of Egypt, Egypt did not walk out of them. The slave mentality, poverty mentality, remained in their blood stream.
The journey to the promised land was only eleven days from when they left Egypt. Eleven days from slavery to freedom, from poverty to immense riches, from pain to gain, from hardship to pleasure, from sickness to healing, but the gratitude of their salvation took only three days to wear off. (Deut. 1:2) and they spent forty years in the wilderness instead.
Jesus said: “No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, "The old is better.” (Luke 5:38-39 NIV) We say the old is better because it was all we knew until Jesus gave us the new life and we became new creations. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Cor. 5:17 ESV) But the majority of us are unwilling to give up our old ways. They deliberately deem the light of righteousness to shield their old habits. They remain spiritually stagnant like the Israelites in the wilderness.
If you are one of those who have truly received Jesus Christ’s salvation but you are unwilling to give up your old habits, pray that you do not die in your wilderness. It is important to get into the promised land - eternity with Christ.
THE WORD: Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” (2 Cor. 6:17 NIV)
