First, you need to desire to know and to identify the Holy Spirit’s voice. Pray to God for this until you are certain (Luke. 11:13). Then include in your prayer the ability to hear the Holy Spirit loud and clear - that is the EAR to hear Him, the HEART to obey Him, and the WILLINGNESS to carry out His Will. Once you receive the full baptism of the Holy Spirit, your walk and work with God become the best thing that ever happened to you after your salvation. Your knowledge of the scriptures will enhance this relationship because Jesus said: “The Spirit doesn't speak on his own. He will tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know what is going to happen.” (John 16:13) What did the Holy Spirit hear? THE WORD. Your knowledge of the scriptures is important.
Remember that the Holy Spirit is the same divine anointing that descended upon Christ (Jh. 1:32-33) and upon the disciples in (Acts 2:4) It is God’s intended purpose that all Christians experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit throughout this age. In the area of service, the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to individuals to edify or strengthen the church (1 Cor. 12-14) These gifts are the manifestation of Christ’s presence, love, truth, and righteous standards are made real (1 Cor. 12:7-11) No one can speak the truth without the spirit of truth.
The Holy Spirit is the agent who incorporates believers into the one body of Christ. He abides in the church (1 Cor. 3:16), builds the church (Eph.2:22), inspires her worship (Phil. 3:3), directs her mission (Acts 13:2,4), appoints her workers (Acts 20:28), give gifts to the church (1 Cor. 12:1-11), anoints her preachers (Acts 2:4), guards the gospel against error (2 Tim. 1:14), and promotes her righteousness (John 16:8). All of these work together for the good of the believers. The various activities of the Holy Spirit are complementary not contradictory and all align perfectly with our Salvation in Christ Jesus.
THE WORD: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Cor. 6:19-20 NIV)
