BUSY FOR GOD AND DISCONNECTED FROM GOD. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Mar. 8th, 2026.

“On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”.....From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.” (John 6: 60,66) Why? Because Jesus pulsed the miracles and taught instead of what must be done to make heaven - He revealed the true manna from heaven, Himself. And replaced bread with His flesh and blood (read John 6:25-60), many of His followers left.

Observe that these were people who were practically chasing Him all over the places especially after the miracle of feeding of the five thousand. “Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus. When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?” (John 6:24-25 NIV) These are they who will leave their families, and travel the length and breadth of the country seeking Jesus’ miracles. They are never available for Bible Study. They are busy working in almost all the departments of the church and not connected with God.

Jesus tells Martha that while she is anxious about many serving tasks, only "one thing is needful". He commends Mary for choosing this "good part"—sitting at His feet to listen to His word—which represents prioritizing spiritual intimacy and devotion over, or alongside, serving. (Luke 10:41-42) When you are all activities and NOT LISTENING, you are disconnecting from God. Therefore, activities is disconnecting from God; listening and following His direction is connecting with God. Being busy is a performance. It is religion not a relationship. You have to detox from ‘the busy for God mentality’ and let Him point you to the way you should go.

All shepherds want their church auditoriums to be full of members all day long and all year long. It is their score card. You must ask yourself, is human recognition your goal or God’s recognition? Am I doing what God wants me to do? Am I pleasing God or man? Many, including pastors are falling apart because they are so tired and worn from church activities - Mary chose the “good part.” REMAIN CONNECTED WITH GOD.

THE WORD: “What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun? All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.” (Eccl. 2:22-23 NIV)
