PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Appearance is often deceptive but humans have no way to access the inside of man. We clean and dress only the outside of the body because it is all we see. Our inside is not visible to us. A disease that ravages the skin is seen, measured, nursed, nurtured back to health. A disease that is within the body is not seen, we feel the pain, the discomfort, but we cannot access the damage. It is usually trial and error. Even medical doctors, with all the modern tech and equipment, more often than not, get it wrong. The inside is even darker when the truth is absent. It is written: The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (Jer. 17:9 NIV) Our inside becomes the exclusive right of God. “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” (Jer. 17:10 NIV)
From time immemorial, man has placed more value on appearance than character. Character is the window to the heart of man. But it cannot be accessed in the moment. It takes a while for smoke to rise from a lit fire. So, "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment." (John 7:24 NKJV) Samuel almost anointed the wrong brother because of his stature (1 Sam. 16:6) Joshua took one look at the Gibeonites and made peace with them based on appearance and without consulting God only to discover that they were his immediate neighbors. (Josh. 9) It was the only time recorded in the Bible that Joshua did not consult God before acting. This leads us to a discerning spirit. We need God’s guidance as our light into the true intention of man. The discerning of spirits is a gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:10-11)
Jesus Christ starts cleaning us from the inside to deliver us from our delusion that we are in control of who we are. He sees through us. The scriptures record Him - Jesus “knows their thoughts” (Mat. 9:4, Lk. 5:22; 6:8; Mark 2:8). The( Messiah), He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.” (Isa. 11:3-4 NIV) We should emulate our Lord. We should stop putting down people based on appearance. Look deeper. Listen more than you speak. Be observant! For all that glitter is not gold. Allow the Word of God to wash your inside through obedience, otherwise, you have no part in Him
THE WORD: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.” (Mat. 23:25-26 NIV)
