PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

April 10th, 2026.

Now, another problem arose. Israel wanted to be like the other nations. They do not want the exclusiveness of serving a God they cannot see. They wanted a king. They forgot all the special privileges they enjoyed over many hundreds of years from when they left Egypt until the time of Samuel. This problem is not Israel’s alone. It is a universal human problem. Mankind is never satisfied with what they have. Israel committed all the sins of other nations - the things God warned them against.

God was losing the only generation that showed a resemblance of knowing Him and who demonstrated loyalty to Him. Two problems immediately screamed out. 1) God’s covenant which is impossible for Him to change or alter. “The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac, and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant,” (1 Chron. 16:16-17 NKJV). 2) God is a Just God. He cannot be partial. “Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth! For the Lord has spoken: “I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its master, the donkey, its owner’s manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” (Isa. 1:2-3 NIV) God applied justice. He punished them severely - nations the Israelites defeated before, trampled them under foot and eventually, He sent them into exile but never let them out of His sight because of His covenant with Abraham. And He kept a faithful remnant unto Himself.

Let us roll back a little. In the beginning, God desired a nation - ….. you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Pet. 2:9 NIV). But Adam ate two seeds instead of one from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God was going to remove one seed and leave only one seed - of the woman. “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed (1) and her Seed (2); He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (Gen. 3:15 NKJV) This was a declaration of war - obedience and disobedience. Now, we fast forward to Abraham. Abraham was to have one seed but instead, he had two. One illegal and the second one legal. This was not God’s doing. God will later reinstate the two seeds in one person, Isaac. Isaac, the promised seed, had Esau and Jacob and God declared:- As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.” (Rom. 9:13 NKJV) Back to the drawing board. (More to come)

THE WORD: “My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, none at all exalt Him.“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I set you like Zeboiim? My heart churns within Me; My sympathy is stirred.” (Hosea 11:7-8 NKJV)
