PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not FULLY DEVOTED to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been……… So, Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord COMPLETELY, as David his father had done.” (1 Kings 11:4&6 NIV)


It wasn’t that Solomon totally turned away from God, he just did not fully devote his whole heart to God as David his father did. The reason is because he was attracted to other gods through his hunger and distracted from God to fit into what he deemed to be right. What we are looking at is the silent but gradual penetration of the world into the body of Christ just like in the days of Solomon. We bring into the church the behaviour of unbelievers and call it fashion. We dance like people in night clubs and call it praising God. We out-do one another and call it love. We take selfies while the service is on. We answer phone calls while the sermon is going on. Pastors dress like magicians and call it designer outfits. Men of God constantly display their wives more than they display Jesus and call it the two are one and or faithfulness. We even speak like the people of the world. Where is the respect for God? Where is humility? Where are the gentle words? Where is love? We opened the door for corruption in the church. This generation of believers may be worse than Solomon.


Jesus said: “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! SUCH THINGS MUST COME, but woe to the person through whom they come!” (Mat. 18:6 NIV)

“For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.” (Phil. 3:18-19 NIV)
