PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Oppression and injustice are significant themes in the Bible, often depicted as actions contrary to God's will and character. Oppression refers to the unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power, while injustice denotes the lack of fairness or righteousness. Both are frequently condemned in Scripture, highlighting God's concern for justice and His call for His people to act justly. (Topical Encyclopedia)


PLANNING OF EVIL: “What sorrow awaits you who lie awake at night, thinking up evil plans. You rise at dawn and hurry to carry them out, simply because you have the power to do so. When you want a piece of land, you find a way to seize it. When you want someone’s house,  you take it by fraud and violence. You cheat a man of his property, stealing his family’s inheritance. (Micah 2:1-2 NLT)


HUMAN PREFERENCE: “If a liar and deceiver comes and says, ‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’ that would be just the prophet for this people!” (Micah 2:11 NIV) In other words, people generally prefer the prosperity preachers and this is why many have lost their dignity, properties, wealth, and faith in the Living God.


When the people asked for a king during the days of Samuel, God warned us against it and also spelt out what the king would do to us. The king will take away our freedom and make slaves out of us and our children (1 Samuel 8:11-18).

The people said then and we are saying the same thing now, “we want a king over us.” (1 Sam. 8:19) We choose as always, deception over truth, injustice over justice and oppression over freedom. The political powers try to keep us in perpetual poverty. The spiritual big wigs play on our emotional, spiritual and material instability to demand what we have left for miracles that never come. They encourage laziness, discourage hard work, (when the scriptures say, you don’t work; you don’t eat), and all for their selfish gains. But this is what the Lord says: “I will reward your evil with evil; you won’t be able to pull your neck out of the noose.” (Micah 2:3 NLT)


Unfortunately, the poor citizens have turned against themselves too by cheating in measures, over charging for work poorly done, evil plans to make more gains without any consideration for life, and almost zero channel for restitution. There is no fear of God and no leader to look up to. We are all corrupt. Time to stand up for Jesus.


THE WORD:  “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,  because he has anointed me  to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,..... (Luke 4:18 NIV)
