PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
April 27th, 2026.
“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” (Amos 3:3 NIV)
“...Truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” (Mat. 18:19 NIV)
The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.” (Gen. 11:6 NIV) Agreement!
These take us back to Genesis 3:6 - “When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, WHO WAS WITH HER, and he ate it.” In my mind, I had always thought that Adam was not present when Eve had the conversation with the serpent - my apology. But Adam was there beside Eve all along and he never objected to the twisting of the instruction that he received in spite of the fact that it was he, that God spoke to directly about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. At the time Adam took and ate the fruit, he was speaking one language with Eve.
Agreement works both ways - it can be for a good course, or evil purpose. I wondered what would have happened if Adam had refused to eat the fruit! If Adam had corrected the serpent as Jesus did when He was tested. If Adam had countered the serpent, the world would not be in the mess we are in.
One truth stands out - silence when you know the truth and say nothing is a very deadly poison. By saying nothing or doing nothing is in itself agreement. And many of us are in this category of let it not be me. The neighbour sees evil being perpetrated but chooses to draw her curtain and does nothing until disaster strikes, is agreement. Silence empowers evil. Your silence is consent. Fear of the consequence for speaking the truth keeps us rooted in evil. Silence is support for corrupt government officials - agreement.
“So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” (Deut. 5:32-33 NIV) Be the Good Samaritan. Do the right thing.
THE WORD: Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62 NIV)
