PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

The Bible did not specify how often or how many times we should pray in a day. But the Holy Book encourages us to “Pray without Ceasing.” (1 Thes. 5:17) This also depends on how we perceive prayer. How do you perceive prayer? Does prayer require a particular posture, particular time of the day, and or a particular place? All of this depends on what we know about prayer, what we have been taught about prayer, and what has worked for us in the past.
What is prayer Biblically? Prayer is direct communication, fellowship, and conversation with God, acting as a means to express adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. It is not mere meditation, but a personal, often spontaneous or formal, address to God as Father. Prayer is described in the Bible as seeking God’s favor (Exodus 32:11), pouring out one’s soul to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:15), crying out to heaven (2 Chronicles 32:20), drawing near to God (Psalm 73:28, KJV), and kneeling before the Father (Ephesians 3:14).
Paul wrote, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in EVERY situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7). Worry about nothing; pray about everything. If praying without ceasing means praying continually, and Proverbs 3:5-6 encourage us to “.......lean not on our own understanding; but in all our ways submit to Him”, and Jesus told His disciples to always pray and not give up, then we can conclude that we are to pray every waking moments in our lives because without Him, we are nothing.
Jesus said, “I and My Father are one.” Why? Because He is constantly in the presence of God. How? Doing the will of the Father through obedience. Because, when we pray, we listen, we receive instruction/s and we carry out the instruction - full circle. Because prayer is the expression of dependence on God. Our thoughts, our deeds, our conversations, our peace, strength and confidence, all are the expression of our constant attachment to the Vine. All these are a form of prayer and evidence of answered prayer.
So, how many times should a Christian pray in a day? The answer: ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT LONG - be in constant touch with the Father. Let His will become your will. You can ask God anything and you can tell God everything.
