PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

There are acts of kindness and there are acts of kindness. Acts expected to be repaid by the receiver in due time. Acts of kindness that are done and forgotten almost instantly, without a second thought but that makes you feel good in your spirit and soul. There are acts of kindness that are obligatory done out of the sense of duty to the community, and family. These are all good works. BUT,
“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.” (Luke 6:32-34 NIV)
The kind of kindness that the receiver cannot pay back is the type of kindness that heaven rewards. “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Mat.25:37-40 NIV) Proverbs adds: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Prov. 11:25 NIV) Psalmist wrote: “Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.” (Psa. 41:1 NIV)
Prophet Amos has this to say against those who are selfish and who hoard wealth: “You lie on beds adorned with ivory and lounge on your couches. You dine on choice lambs and fattened calves. You strum away on your harps like David and improvise on musical instruments. You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph. Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile.” (Amos 6:4-7 NIV)
Here is the test question; Can you truly feed your enemy? Can you love your enemy? “You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again.” (Deut. 22:4) “If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.” (Prov. 25:21) Love your enemies (Mat. 5:44)
Donate anonymously to hospitals and prisons charity. There are people needing bail but cannot afford it. Decluster your space. There are thousands of things we can do without being seen. Give and it shall be given to you.
THE WORD: "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them." (Heb. 6:10 NIV)
