PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

The real poison is not that from the snake bite, not the food poison but the venomous poison that comes from the heart of man. The judgement passed before finding out who the person standing in front of you really is. The assumption that someone does not belong in your class and therefore deserves to be crucified. The poison in the blood is most common in marriages. The parents- in-laws to be took a stand even before the marriage is consummated that the fiance is not one of their own. Why? Because they just don’t like him/her. The seed of poison is sown and nobody attempts to reverse it. It is carried into the next generation and the next. It happens in work places, among friends and more.
The surprise is that in the Christian community, most people involved in this kind of destructive decision are usually pastors, elders in the church, deacons and deaconesses, marriage counselors, respected men and women. People who should know but chose not to and they refused to count the cost - the destruction of the family unity.
Truly, surprise awaits all of us in heaven because with this judgemental attitude, many will not make heaven. Why? It is about hatred. It is about pride. It is about planting weeds in wheat fields. It is about unforgiveness. It is about destroying what God declared ‘good.’ It is about disobedience.
What is the way forward: “It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” (Mat. 15:11 NLT). Think and pray before you speak. We are encouraged to bring our burdens unto Christ (Mat. 11:28-29). We are encouraged to forgive and be our brothers' keeper. We are commanded to love as Jesus loves us. And a breakdown of this type of love is in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. People are sent to believers in different ways for us to patiently bring them to Jesus Christ. What you think is not an asset now may turn out to be one of your greatest assets.
Esau married a Canaanite, a pagan and Isaac didn't approve. Jacob married the daughters of Laban, a pagan too. The Edomites were lost but Jacob became Israel. What was the difference? Jacob taught his family the way of the Lord; Esau did not. Let us look up to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith. Yours is to promote peace not to fuel hatred.
THE WORD: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” (Mat. 5:7-9 NIV)
