PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Mat. 23:12 NIV)
Trees grow in two different directions as long as they remain standing. The deeper the root, the better the growth and the harvest. The tree starts in the darkness searching the deeper ground for survival. The seed planted goes through a series of changes to the point of death. Then comes some tiny roots all still in the ground unseen. The labour of the seed is unseen. The pains are unseen. The doubts are not visible. The near death experience is hidden from whoever is watching. But the seed endures it all. The roots deep in the earth are searching for water. Hold on to that for some seconds. While the root is searching and researching, the tree shows a tiny shoot pushed out of the earth to show the world that it is surviving. The interesting thing is that the tiny plant grows towards the light. The water is the word of God and the light is His marvelous light, from darkness into light. This light cannot be hidden. The tree with fruit stands tall and attracts all passers-by. (Eph. 5:26; John 3:5; Mat. 5:14)
As it is growing inward, searching for water to keep growing, it is also growing outward towards the light. The tree starts off in total surrender and in humility to nature and after persevering, grows towards the light and it becomes a big tree producing fruits and shelter for many. It is written: “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” (Psa. 1:3 NIV) Why? Because they allowed the seed - the word to grow inside them - Parable of the Sower. They are deeply rooted in Christ and His instructions. My people say; “the cooking pot that desires delicious stew must be prepared to endure fire/heat.” The hymn ‘Begone unbelief’ has this in it - “Did Christ my Lord suffer, and shall I repine?”
Just as natural roots anchor a tree and supply it with water and nutrients, our spiritual roots—what we believe, value, and draw strength from—anchor us through the storms of life and determine the quality of our character and actions. We are instructed to be "rooted and built up in Him" (Colossians 2:7). When a man's faith draws its nutrients (love, truth, wisdom) from God rather than worldly approval, he flourishes. Jesus taught that a tree is known by its fruit. You cannot have good fruit without first tending to the roots. “AND IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO GO DOWN; YOU CANNOT GO UP.” Pride may be standing in your way. Humble yourself, surrender to Him and He will lift you up.
THE WORD: “The seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” (Mat. 13:23 NIV)
