WAKE UP TO THE GREATNESS OF GOD. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

June 13th, 2026.

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” (Eccl. 1:9 NIV)

Our nation may be under a kind of siege at this time and the fear is real. The brutality experienced, seen on videos and or heard is sending some people to early graves, while many live in perpetual uncertainty as people without hope.

The Book of Amos opens with the savage cruelty of Syria to Gilead and the jaw dropping moment was when God intervened. The Lord says, “The people…. have sinned again and again, and for this I will certainly punish them. They treated the people of Gilead with SAVAGE CRUELTY.  So I will send fire upon the palace built … I will smash the city gates…… The people will be taken away as prisoners to the land of Kir.” (Amos 1:3-5) Savage cruelty refers to acts of extreme, unrestrained, and ruthless brutality. It describes behavior that lacks any civilized restraint, empathy, or pity, often characterized by a deliberate intent to inflict severe physical or emotional suffering. (Merriam-Webster)

The Lord says, “I am the one who strengthens you. Why should you fear mortals, who are no more enduring than grass? Have you forgotten the Lord who made you, who stretched out the heavens and laid the earth's foundations? Why should you live in constant fear of the fury of those who oppress you, of those who are ready to destroy you? Their fury can no longer touch you.” (Isa. 51:12-13 GNT)

To those standing in the gap for our nation and saying:- “Wake up, Lord, and help us! Use your power and save us; use it as you did in ancient times. It was you that cut the sea monster Rahab to pieces. It was you also who dried up the sea and made a path through the water, so that those you were saving could cross.” (Isa. 51:9-10) The Lord says:- “Listen to me, you that know what is right, who have my teaching fixed in your hearts.
Do not be afraid when people taunt and insult you; they will vanish like moth-eaten clothing! But the deliverance I bring will last forever; my victory will endure for all time.” (Isa. 51:7-8 GNT)

God knows what we are passing through. He heard our cries and He is doing something about it. It is unfortunate that while the guilty ones are being punished, those who are innocent will absorb some of the blows. We all need to check ourselves and ask; in which way am I contributing to the hardship our nation is passing through? Are you innocent or guilty? Because,

THE WORD: “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.” (Isa. 59:1 NIV)
