PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

In one breath, God says; “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jer. 1:5) “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.” (Psa. 139:13) “Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name.” (Isa. 49:1) “But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace,...” (Gal. 1:15)
There is a common thread in all the Bible verses quoted above and that is God knows each and everyone of us before we were formed and whilst we were in our mothers womb. It is also obvious that we were made specifically to serve Him. But God also gives us the freedom to choose what we want to be, making us the ONLY free moral agent among the whole of His creation. What He created us to become and who we decided to become is really the difference between life and death; eternal life and Hell; good and evil; choosing God or the devil.
Don’t you sometimes wish you do not have to choose? Especially because some of us are always choosing wrong. And the cost of choosing wrong is very expensive even when it seems ordinary. Nothing is really ordinary in the real sense. Every choice we make leads to lifting up or pulling down.
It is this choice that leads from “I know you” (Jer. 1:5) to “I don’t know you” in “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” (Mat. 7:23) Meaning I do not recognise you any more. This is not who I created you to be. You have changed and it is not for your own good! Jesus replied; ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ (Mat. 25:12)
Before this final conclusion, we are all given the opportunity to repent and to walk the right path - Jesus Christ made sure of this. But many of us still prefer Barabbas to Jesus without counting the cost. Now is the time to tell God you prefer His choice to yours (Jer. 29:11) That He should do whatever it takes to make you what He has planned for you.
THE WORD: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer. 29:11 NIV)
