PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Gal. 6:9-10 NIV)
Christian generosity has been so abused that it is affecting the one and most important work Jesus taught us - give through the love of Christ. Meaning that you see past what is been done (good or evil), you see the love Christ pours into your life. This love is indescribable. “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Cor. 9:15) And it is through this love that the whole is illuminated through His word. Missionaries lived in jungles to bring salvation to the unreached. Schools and hospitals built to bring people out of poverty. Some of us are beneficiaries of these wonderful sacrifices of heroes past. We ought to leave our footprint on the sands of time.
The worst enemy of enthusiasm is weariness. That tired feeling that results from having run out of strength, patience, and endurance. All of us have been there. We decide to start something great and wonderful, and then in the matter of a few days, or weeks, or months we are tired of it. Don’t Grow Weary In Doing Good Even When… You’re Persecuted: The church of the Thessalonians was started amid the heat of persecution (Acts 17:1-9; 1 Thessalonians 1:6-8; 2:13-16). Yet even in the face of such persecutions and afflictions the Thessalonians continued to do good. Paul commends this faithful band of believers saying, “We remember before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 1:3).
Things are hard. The economy is harsh. People put in charge of relief funds, pocket them. People run after their own needs and care less about others. Children without shoes or decent clothes are overlooked. We all pretend we do not see. One of the strong reasons other religions are afraid of Christians is our acts of generosity which changes lives. Think about that! We meet people at their needs knowing that Our Father who is in heaven will meet ours. Do not throw your net in denomination only. Throw it across the sea and you will reap abundantly. “Give to the person who asks you for something, and do not turn away from the person who wants to borrow something from you.” (Mat. 5:42) “....let him give, not grudgingly or out of compulsion; for God loveth the cheerful giver.” (2 Cor. 9:7)
Haggai wrote; “You earn a salary, but the money runs out quickly, as if there are holes in your pocket.” (Haggai 1:6) This verse describes the frustration of working hard but never having enough to get ahead, often serving as a reminder to prioritize God rather than focusing solely on personal, materialistic pursuits. Let us not be weary in doing good. God is particular to His temples who are poor, orphans, strangers, widows, the sick. Do not see your contribution as small. Our God is a God of small beginnings.
THE WORD: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” (2 Cor. 9:8-9 NIV)
