PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Reverence is defined as having a profound respect and awe for someone or something. It can also be known as fear – not necessarily from being scared at someone or about something, but rather having the utmost respect. Do we really look at God this way? Do we treat Him with the utmost respect that He deserves? Are we in awe of Him? Should we respect God?
This took me to Jeremiah 5:22 - “Should you not fear me?” declares the Lord. “Should you not tremble in my presence? I MADE THE SAND A BOUNDARY FOR THE SEA, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it.” (NIV) What? So, I visualise myself standing at the beach on the white sand. I saw and heard the terrifying roar of the sea. The flapping and rushing of the water with an unimaginable speed, the high waves rushing to the shore and pulling down any object on its path whenever it pulls inward. And somehow all these raging simmers down when this powerful storm gets to where the sand is and quietly slows down and in reverse gear goes back. How can the sand stop the sea? Because God commands it.
The sea represents one of the most powerful, chaotic, and uncontrollable forces on earth. Yet, God appointed "the sand as the boundary", a seemingly fragile barrier that completely tames the raging waves. "Should you not fear me?" and "Should you not tremble in my presence?", demand a response of holy awe. If the mighty ocean bows to God's decrees, humanity’s refusal to do so is both foolish and senseless. While the sea obeys an everlasting physical barrier, “But (we) these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts; they (we) have turned aside and gone away. They (we) do not say to themselves, "Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.” (Jer. 5:23-24 NIV)
This passage speaks directly to our pride. We puff, we rage, we boast based on what? What do we possess that is not from God? What can we do without Him? Where can we go from His presence? We owe Him the air we breathe. Why do we worship material things and abandon the material GIVER? Why do we boast when we do not know what tomorrow holds? Why are idolatrous? Can we mock God? The sand stops the ocean - let us think about that and turn fully to God. His coming is near.
THE WORD: “‘How can you say, “We are wise, for we have the law of the Lord,” when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have?” (Jer. 8:8-9 NIV)(Job 38:4-11)
