PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
July 30th, 2026.
“.....From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” (Luke 12:48b NIV)
When the Lord gives us power, we are accountable for how you use it and we face the consequences of bad stewardship or the reward of good works. When we wield our influence for good, it uplifts others and multiplies the positive impact we leave behind. But when we abuse, hoard, or use it selfishly, the fallout is inevitable. Taking ownership of this reality is the mark of true maturity. It means recognizing that what we do with the power we are given is the ultimate test of our character.
What power or authority or gift has God given us?
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:19 NIV)
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Tim. 1:7 NIV)
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” 1 Cor. 12:4-7 NIV)
Why? “.....so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:17 NIV)
And the greatest of these is Jesus’ promise - “......And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mat. 28:20 NIV)
Are you sure you have the power and authority?
“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17-18 NIV) The question is DO YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST? If your answer is ‘YES’, then you have the power.
What is the power and authority for?
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10 NIV) And we should all know that “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Phil. 2:13 NIV)
Where is your God given power/talent? At work or hidden? "So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God". (Rom. 14:12) WHAT HAS GOD ENTRUSTED IN YOU?
THE WORD: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19 NIV)
