PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Prov. 18:21)
In the beginning, God spoke the word and the earth came to be and all its fullness - Genesis chapter one and everything created is GOOD). In Genesis chapter three, the serpent spoke to Eve and distorted the original message of Genesis chapter two which gave birth to CONFUSION, manipulation, deceit and more. The tongue is still at work and the words spoken are still very active. In John chapter one verse fourteen, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” (John 1:14) Note that the same Word that was first spoken in Genesis chapter one is alive and active. He was with God all the time - way back before the beginning and evidence that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth/tongue speaks (Mat. 12:34) The words were spoken out and the word did/does exactly what she was sent to do. It means that words are never neutral; they have immense capacity to either heal or destroy. Constructive speech yields good results, while careless speech brings ruin.
What about the word spoken coming back to the speaker? It is good and comfortable when words act as messengers and deliver to others but we forget that words spoken come back to us either way. We consciously speak good and blessed words to ourselves but the careless words also are active and come back confirming that “.....you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.” (Mat 12:36) "By the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things, and the work of their hands brings them their reward." (Prov. 12:14)
The words were spoken by David after Joab sent him the message that Uriah had died. “Say this to Joab: ‘Don’t let this upset you; THE SWORD DEVOURS ONE AS WELL AS ANOTHER.” (2 Sam. 11:25 NIV) Prophet Nathan then delivered this to David: “...You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. Now, therefore, THE SWORD WILL NEVER DEPART from your house…….” (2 Sam. 12:9-10) David said it and unknowingly spoke the sword into his own life. It is written: “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword” (Mat. 26:52) If the sword devoured Uriah, David planted it in his own family and certified it by his own words. What words have you and I spoken that are now hunting us and our families? The possibility is that we do not remember and we keep believing that the enemies are hunting us when we are the hunters and the hunted. (fruit of the tongue)
Let us learn to process words before we release them while asking the Father to forgive and remove the curse we unknowingly placed on ourselves. When we judge others, we judge ourselves.
