PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

As a physical shadow perfectly outlines a person but lacks their actual substance, the Old Testament outlines God's plan, which is fully realized in Christ. “.....that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,.....” (1 Cor. 15:3-4NIV)
God instructed Abraham: “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” (Gen. 22:2) So, Abraham did. The next day, he took Isaac and all the things required for such sacrifice and two of his servants. On the THIRD DAY, he looked up and saw the designated place. Then he said this to the two servants: “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. WE WILL WORSHIP AND THEN WE WILL COME BACK.” (Gen. 22:5 NIV) Did you read that? “We will worship and then we will come back!” This was from the man who received specific instruction from the Living God of heaven and the earth and everything under it to take his son and sacrifice him as a burnt offering. Abraham was not ignorant of what that meant because he had offered sacrifices to God before. He also confirmed that he knew exactly what to do because he later laid his son on the altar that he prepared to slaughter him (Gen. 22:9-10) Some time before this, Isaac asked his father “where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham answered: “God will provide.” (Gen. 22:7-8) The donkey was present too.
Isaac carried the wood on his back - Jesus carried the wooden cross on His back.
On the third day Abraham saw the place for the sacrifice - on the third day, Jesus came out of the tomb alive.
God indeed provided the lamb (Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. (Gen. 22:15) - Jesus wore a crown of thorns.
Abraham and Isaac returned after worship to the servants just as he assured them - Jesus resurrected just as He told His disciples.
HERE ARE SOME THE LESSONS: ABRAHAM PROVED THAT HE LOVED THE GIVER MORE THAN THE GIFT (Isaac was God’s gift to Abraham). Can we confidently say the same for ourselves? Abraham believed that “they will worship and come back together” and it was so. Where is our faith on a scale of 1-10? Jesus and not Isaac (shadow) is the ultimate sacrifice - the reality. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his only son, what are we willing to sacrifice?
THE WORD: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Rom. 12:1 NIV)
