PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Heb. 11:6 NIV)
What is faith and why is it so important in our walk with God? According to the Bible, faith is the confident assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen (Heb. 11:1). It is not merely knowing facts about God, but placing total trust in His character, relying on His promises, and living an obedient life that reflects that trust. So, FAITH IS BELIEF + TRUST + OBEDIENCE. True faith is an active combination of Belief (knowing God exists and accepting His truth), Trust (relying on His character when you are unsure), and Obedience (acting on what He asks, even when it is hard). Faith is important because God is not answerable to any of us. It is either you accept what He says as said or you doubt Him and you lose. God cannot lie. He did not plan for us yesterday, He planned for us long ago and He is not going to change His mind now. It is just who God is. And to fully understand Him, you must meditate on scriptures, read the Word of God to learn His viewpoint. Your Pastors’ words are not enough. Pray boldly, observe God’s ways, and apply His patterns.
Struggling Faith is a partial/divided focus on God. You are not entirely trusting Him. You allow doubt to cloud your judgement. In reality, you want what God can give and not the Giver. Struggling faith means you still have other options you will like to explore. You struggle with what you see and what you expect. “You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. (James 2:19)
Mature Faith: A mature faith is an ongoing journey of spiritual growth rather than an overnight destination. It is fully focused on God. Peter said to Jesus - “But because you say so, I will let down the nets" (Luke 5:5) Abraham’s perfect faith: "Stay here with the donkey," Abraham told his servants. "The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we will return to you." (Gen. 22:5) - (when he was instructed to sacrifice the boy.) David’s focus was on God when he fought Goliath. He was sure that Goliath’s head was already in his palm. (1 Sam. 17:37) And it was so.
Struggling faith - Matthew 17:14-21 compared to Mature faith - Matthew 8:5-13. “.....faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." (James 2:17) So, pray and if it is acceptable, force your focus on God and His Word.
THE WORD: "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ." (Rom. 10:17 NIV)
