PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
Aug. 22nd, 2026.
Jesus’ ministry: “The SPIRIT of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4:18-19 KJV)
“But ye shall receive POWER, after that the HOLY GHOST is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 KJV)
“ I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with POWER through his SPIRIT in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” (Eph. 3:16-17 NIV)
“Finally, be strong in the LORD and in his mighty POWER.” (Eph. 6:10 NIV)
Before we received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we all lived in bondage to fear. This fear stemmed from the reality of sin, the power of death, and separation from God. This fear dominated, paralysed, controlled us. To be freed from this fear, many seek power from different sources for courage. Those who carry guns with them rely on the power from the gun. Some become aggressive and use intimidation to paralyse others just to hide the fear. Through faith in Jesus, believers are freed from this fear and given a new life of peace and confidence. It is written: "For GOD has not given us a spirit of fear, but of POWER, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Tim. 1:7 KJV)
The power we have been given comes only from the Holy Spirit and only accessible when we have truly given our life to Christ Jesus. The use of this power received through the Holy Spirit is as stated in the ministry of Jesus Christ, (Luke 4:18-19) for preaching the gospel, for love, for compassion, for healing, for deliverance, and to overcome fear and hardship. Now we know that we are not alone because “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." (1 John 4:4 KJV) This knowledge, this power, the strength, the courage and boldness only come through FAITH in Christ, the Word of God. It is not and cannot be bought with money or good behaviour (Acts 8:20).
This power that we have been given cannot be used for revenge, and or to destroy others. It is for building and not for pulling down. When we encounter challenges, ours is to report the same to God who gives the power. 2 Peter 1:3 states that God's divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life.
THE WORD: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me". (2 Cor. 12:9 NIV)
