PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Jesus warns His disciples, "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many" (Mat. 24:4-5)
"Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many". (Mat. 24:11)
"For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect". (Mat. 24:24)
Today’s meditation is a reminder of what Jesus said about the false prophets and to re-echo His warning to safeguard our salvation in Him. We are sheep who need reminding all the time. Signs and wonders are not automatic evidence that the person performing it comes from God. Recall what happened in Egypt - Moses and Aaron and the Pharaoh’s wise men, sorcerers and magicians (Exo. 7:8 -8:18). Though the wise men and sorcerers eventually gave up saying: “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said. (Exo. 8:19) But the damage was already done. The weak in faith had seen three to four different miracles performed by Moses and Aaron and counterfeited by the magicians. How many miracles will it take to convince anyone?
WHY WILL THE PEOPLE BE EASILY DECEIVED? The Apostle Paul writes that a time will come when people "will not endure sound doctrine" and will turn away from the truth to follow myths and their own desires.” (2 Tim. 4:3-4) We have probably arrived at the time specified because in today’s world, everybody has opinions that are easily turned to ‘truth’ to align with their own lifestyle. The Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith by giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. (1 Tim. 4:1) “FOR THIS REASON GOD SENDS THEM A POWERFUL DELUSION SO THAT THEY WILL BELIEVE THE LIE.” (2 Thes. 2:11 NIV) No one wants to be caught in this. This is why we need to rely more on the written word of God than miracles, signs and wonders. 400 prophets lied to Ahab (1 Kings 22) only one prophet was truthful.
The challenges we face in our corner of the world are many. The majority of the people have no financial muscle to pull through. Rents are so high that many are in shelters. Medical treatments are out of the reach of many. Children are moved from private schools to public schools. Food is rationed in the house. Many are looking for an easy way out. Remember this: “.....we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Rom. 5:3-5 NIV)
What awaits us in Christ is much more than our current suffering (Rom. 8:18) DO NOT BE A VICTIM.
