He declared: "I will never admit you are in the right; till I die, I will not deny my integrity. I will maintain my innocence and never let go of it; my conscience will not reproach me as long as I live." (Job.27.5-6.NIV) WHY?
1. He was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. (Job.1.1.NIV)2. He regularly worshipped and made sacrifices to God. (Job 1:4-5)
3. "......(a) he rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist them. [b] The one who was dying blessed him; he made the widow’s heart sing. [c] he put on righteousness as his clothing; justice was his robe and turban. [d] he was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame. [e] he was a father to the needy; he took up the case of the stranger. [f] he broke the fangs of the wicked and snatched the victims from their teeth." (Job.29.11-17.NIV)
4. He was not guilty of lust (Job 31:1-4)
5. Not guilty of deceit (Job 31:5-6)
6. Not guilty of dishonesty (Job 31:7-8)
7. Not guilty of adultery (Job 31:9-12)
8. Not guilty of injustice (Job 31:13-15)
9. Not guilty of inhumanity (Job 31:16-23)
10. Not guilty of covetousness (Job 31:24-25)
11. Not guilty of idolatry (Job.31:26-28)
12. Not guilty of malignity (Job31:29-31)
13. Not guilty of inhospitality (Job 31:32)
14. Not guilty of hypocrisy (Job 31:33-37)
15. Not guilty of fraud (Job 31:38-40)
Why does his character challenges each and everyone of us?
Because we are in a better place than he was. Jesus took away our sins and we have the Holy Spirit to help us navigate this world seamlessly, yet, we are falling and rising, rising and falling. Job operated in the flesh too except we say he was God or a type of Christ! This further make our case worse because, by that, we admitted that we know that it is doable.
God saw through our weaknesses and sent us His own Spirit to be our HELP. We have no excuse.
WORD: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship." (Rom.12.1.NIV)
