FROM A NOBODY TO SOMEBODY!
Jesus said: “Certainly there were many needy widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the heavens were closed for three and a half years, and a severe famine devastated the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them. He was sent instead to a foreigner—a widow of Zarephath in the land of Sidon. And many in Israel had leprosy in the time of the prophet Elisha, but the only one healed was Naaman, a Syrian.” (Luk.4.25-27.NLT)
In a similar stroke, Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”  "I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” (Luk.19.39-40.NIV)

God has a way of making the known unknown and the previously unknown to be known not only in knowledge but also in humans. "He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands." (Luk.1.52-53.NLT)

The world fears the rich and powerful. They respect, yet dread, but look up to the proud and haughty (Prov. 16:18). The world sees tall, handsome men and slim beautiful women as true models, assuming that good on the outside means good on the inside. How wrong!? Often use the highly educated, the heavy donors, the philanthropists, as paths to follow. And the louder, the more elegant or flamboyant, the more acceptable. The truth is, God is not impressed.

There is only one major qualification that resonates with God - TRUST IN HIM. If we truly trust God, to obey Him will not be difficult and obedience fuels our faith in Him. The widow of Zarephath simply trusted. Naaman reluctantly obeyed. While the Pharisees were still puffing, the Gentiles (stones) were taking over. While the rich see themselves as the all in all, the lowly maiden is chosen to carry the promised seed.

History remembers those who in obedience rose from ashes to beauty but forgets those who acted god in life. This is true even today.

God seeks out the humble, trainable souls, childlike spirit, to turn into someone to envy.
