REMOVE THE ENCUMBRANCES TO WORSHIP - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

May 20th, 2025

REMOVE THE ENCUMBRANCES TO WORSHIP.
David wrote: "Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws." (Psa.119.164.NIV) And in another Psalm, he wrote, "In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly." (Psa.5.3.NIV)

Consciously or otherwise, each of us have built a wall against the regular worship of God because we believe it has to take a particular form, in a particular place, at a particular time. We can keep that without compromising continuous worship. We forget that God is everywhere and present in our lives every second of the day. He is willing and ready to hear us. And if there is anything He loves, it is to show Him love in praise and worship. And because worship of God is a thing, (obedience) or song from our inner most part - worship in spirit and in truth, becomes a thing of the heart. The greatest advantage of this is, it strengthens our relationship with Him, our faith is continuously nourished and great is our peace and joy.

Worship of God is acknowledgement of who He is. Words or phrases like; "I love you Lord", "You are a good God", "Thank you Lord", "Hallelujah to your Holy name" etc is worship. Verses like "without you, I am nothing", "the Lord will make a way", "I believe in His mercy", "He has heard me", talking to Him regularly increases our joy, satisfaction, assurance and victory. Before long, our inner being starts to sing praise/worship songs, a message/acknowledgement from God Himself.

What stands between us and the true worship of God is our selfish motives. When we prefer to cluster our minds with all the worries of the world,  a place where Satan wants us to be (to be perpetually worried, sad, doubt etc), the same mind is not free to worship God. Nations are defeated when we praise and worship God. Enemies are brought low and our heads are lifted high. What seems impossible,  becomes possible when we genuinely trust Him. Joshua, David, Jehoshaphat, Ruth (your God will be my God is worship), Esther (if I die, I die), Daniel and his friends and many more became great because they worshiped God. "And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God." (Rom.8.27.NIV)
Obedience is worship.

THE WORD: "Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord." (Psa.117.1-2.NIV)
