PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
THE OVERWORKED PASTORS.
Pastors are God’s oracles. They are called, elected, or chosen by God to carry out God's purposes. We also know that, "No temptation (overworked or bleeding pastors) has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." (1 Cor.10.13.NIV) In that verse of the scripture alone, God takes care of the pressure any pastor can experience.
In another scripture, God instructed us by encouraging us to bring all our burdens to Him, He will help us carry them (Mat. 11:28). This applies to the Pastors too.
Moses was a prophet and leader over two million people. He was overwhelmed with his work as the judge, working from dawn to dusk. It was his father in-law that taught him delegation. Why? Because Moses thought nobody else is capable. (Moses answered him, “Because the people come to me to seek God’s will." (Exo.18.15.NIV)
Paul was very zealous for God. He probably took on more than he can shew. But when the beating he received increased, God hid him in prison under house arrest to rest and be more productive.
The point is this; as long as the pastor looks up to God for daily guidance and listens to His directions, (Prov. 3:5-6), He can never be overworked or bled under the weight of serving God. Moreso that we know God works in us both to will and to do (Phil 2:13). Jesus' ministry is our prototype. He showcased God not Himself. He worked and rested even if it meant going to some quite places.
When a pastor is overwhelmed with God's 'work' and he is bleeding under the heavy load, check it out, he has stopped listening to God and focuses on pleasing the people. His desire to showcase himself as the alpha and omega (all cases must be referred to him) is the red flag that his focus has shifted.
When Elijah thought he was the only prophet left, God told him He had 7000 more that hadn't bowed to Baal (1 Kings 19:18). Much later, God gave him Elisha as his assistant and then took Elijah away.
Jesus Christ made it simpler for pastors if only they will focus the people on God rather than themselves. Because the veil was torn from top to bottom 2000 years ago. We all, pastors and the led, have same access to God through Jesus Christ.
