PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
June 1st, 2025DEATH IS CLEANSING AND PRESERVING.
Whenever we read of the staggering number of people killed in war, we wondered how or why a loving God allowed such to happen. Moreso, that we are the works of His hand and the sheep of His pasture (Psa. 100)! Verses like; "That night an angel of the Lord went to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 soldiers." (2ki.19.35.GNT), or "The Levites obeyed, and killed about three thousand men that day." (Exo.32.28.GNT). These were people who disobeyed God and in order to avoid their attitudes from contaminating or corrupting the others, the Lord expunged them from the people. It is also meant to teach us that God does not tolerate disobedience. A Holy God cannot behold sin. "Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord." (Psa.101.8.NIV)
When Ahab fraudulently killed Naboth for his vineyard, God promised his revenge (1 Kings 21:21-24). Jehu was later anointed king to cleanse the land of Ahab and Jezebel's evil deeds. "When Joram saw Jehu he asked, “Have you come in peace, Jehu?” “How can there be peace,” Jehu replied, “as long as all the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel abound?” (2 Ki.9.22.NIV)
God also uses physical death to preserve His own, those who are obedient. "and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people." (Mat.27.52-53.NIV)
"The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death." (Isa.57.1-2.NIV)
Observation: While evil men are killed en masse, their numbers staggering, the saints are few in comparison. This tells us that indeed, 'many are called but few are chosen.' Narrow is the way and only few people find it. It is also evident that heaven is real and hell is also real.
May we choose the right path.
